Our modular ground school instruction covers all Transport Canada knowledge requirements for the PPL-H and CPL-H licences. These topics are delivered through preparatory ground instruction (PGI), lectures, review sessions, and mock exams.
Aligned with Standard 421 and official Transport Canada examination prerequisites:

- Air law and procedures: Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), air traffic, aerodromes, licensing
- Helicopter systems: Structures, engines, fuel systems, hydraulics, electrical systems

- Flight operations: Pre-flight planning, VFR procedures, weight & balance, fuel
- Meteorology: Atmospheric phenomena, charts, forecasts, decision-making
- Navigation: Maps, flight planning, navigation tools (VOR/ADF/GPS), electronic navigation principles
- Human factors: Decision-making, fatigue, stress, crew resource management (CRM), limitations

Each unit includes PGI, lectures, pre-flight briefings, dual instruction flights, solo flights, and structured debriefings.

- 54.5 flight hours on Robinson R44
- 67 theory hours
- 34.5 hours of PGI(preparatory ground instruction)

- Valid Category 3 Medical Certificate
The CPL-H allows you to fly professionally. It’s your gateway to a career in aviation: air transport, tourism, instruction, or specialized operations.
This modular program includes all Transport Canada training standards—from basic training to professional requirements—and is suitable for both new student pilots and PPL-H holders (with credited courses for prior experience).
Each module includes PGI, lectures, briefings, dual instruction flight, solo flight time, and thorough debriefings. Review sessions and mock exams are integrated throughout the curriculum.

We designed our modular flight training programs to fully prepare our student pilots for Transport Canada’s licensing requirements.
We have outlined the key steps to complete, either in parallel with or following your training at the College:
1. Written Exam
- Multiple-choice
- Topics: air law, navigation, meteorology, general knowledge
- Passing grade: 60% overall and in each section
- Instructor recommendation required
2. Flight Test
- Conducted with a qualified Transport Canada examiner
- Must be passed within 12 months of licence application
- Valid medical certificate required at the time of the test
3. Medical Certificate
- PPL-H: Category 3
- CPL-H: Category 1
4. Minimum Flight Hours
- Specific solo flights, dual instruction flights, navigation, and total hours must be logged in a personal flight log
5. Age Requirement
- 17 years old for PPL-H
- 18 years old for CPL-H

Can I study part-time?
How long does helicopter training take?
Are these programs eligible for financial aid?
I have a foreign licence. Can I enroll?
Yes, if you’re a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have a study permit. Short-term training (6 months or less) may apply. We’ll evaluate your background to build a personalized conversion plan.
I’m already a fixed-wing pilot. Can I get a helicopter licence?
Absolutely. If you hold a PPL-A or CPL-A, you can convert to PPL-H or CPL-H, and some of your passed training hours may be credited.
