Theoretical Instructor

The task of the instructor of theoretical courses is to conduct courses in accordance with their Transport Canada licenses and ratings. This includes delivering theory in accordance with the Select Aviation college standards, schedule and syllabus, preparing lessons, managing students in the classroom and maintaining a climate conducive to learning. He/she can do group or individual teaching. He/she is responsible for monitoring students and reporting any particular situation to the chief flight instructor so that he/she can do the appropriate follow-up in order to guarantee student success.

Duties and Responsibilities

Offer theory according to the Select Aviation college syllabus
Answer student questions
Supervision and correction of exams
Take attendance
Maintain the ground part of the PTR

Required skills

Excellent theoretical knowledge of Transport Canada exam topics
Ability to search for information
Creativity

Qualifications and expertise required

PLC license
Demonstrate enthusiasm to evolve within the college team
Demonstrated professional behavior
Have maintained an excellent general average

Working conditions

Group classes are offered in periods of 3 or 4 hours, depending on the schedule predetermined by the college. Individual lessons have a variable schedule and duration. The theory instructor should arrive before the group to prepare the class for teaching. Preparation for the various courses is not remunerated.
