Flight instructor

The flight instructor is a trainer, and therefore his goal is to provide his students with theoretical knowledge and the necessary qualities through his teaching and sufficient exercises practices so that they can ride competently and safely.

Under the supervision of the Chief Flight Instructor, the Flight Instructor’s job is to conduct courses in accordance with his Transport Canada licenses and ratings. This includes delivering in-flight courses in accordance with Select Aviation college standards, schedule and syllabus and adhering to the company’s operations manual.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide flight instruction according to the Select Aviation College syllabus
Check weather conditions and NOTAMS before flights
Ensure proper preparation of aircraft and student
Brief students before and after each flight
Comply with the company's operations manual
Complete the flight portion of the PTRs

Excellent level of English

Qualifications and expertise required

Class 4, 3, 2 or 1 instructor rating issued by Transport Canada
Demonstrate enthusiasm to evolve within the college team
Demonstrated professional behavior
Have passed the job interview, exams and the qualification flight with the chief flight instructor.

Working conditions

The flight instructor's schedule is established by the operations team according to the availability allocated by the instructor. He/she may be called upon to work days, evenings or weekends, depending on the phase of the students' training and the weather conditions.
